Winter is here, and even though it is a cold season with fewer sunny days than the rest of the year, it is the best time to tone the kidneys as we culturally eat dishes made from water and broths.
To combat the cold, it is advisable to eat hot meals, generally made with water, such as broths, vegetable creams, stews, or soupy legumes. It is also very useful to eat spicy elements like ginger, garlic, cinnamon, or cloves, which warm us up but do not cause sweating and, therefore, dehydration.
Although it is winter, to maintain good urinary health, remember the importance of:
- Ingesting 2 to 3 liters of liquids daily (some of which can be present in meals) to maintain good urinary health and avoid pathologies such as kidney stones (also known as "kidney stones").
- Maintaining an adequate weight; being overweight is a factor that favors the formation of kidney stones.
- Follow appropriate diets for your condition if you suffer from any. Remember that you can help yourself with food supplements indicated for this purpose.
- Exercising regularly; I know that the cold makes it harder to get off the couch, but remember that it is also a way to warm up.
- Maintaining urine pH at recommended levels will prevent you from suffering from pathologies such as cystitis (urinary infection) or kidney stones. If you have doubts about your urinary pH range, consult your doctor.
